Heather Coughlan, RN, RNFA is highly skilled with 25+ year experience in the Peri-operative clinical area including Healthcare business and Clinical Research sectors. Her Peri-operative Nursing practice includes services such as: Orthopaedics: (Arthroplasty, Sports, Hand and Upper Limb, Foot and Ankle, Spine), Neuro, ENT, Plastics, Cardiac, Urology, Gynecology, General and Trauma. Where applicable both open and laparoscopic approaches. She was able to hone her skills as an RNFA involving Arthroplasty, Sports Medicine, Foot and Ankle, Hand and Upper Limb, General and Plastics surgery. Heather takes great interest in applying her knowledge to positions ranging from staff nurse, specialized Orthopaedic team, marketing, product and clinical specialist as she consults and advises Healthcare, medical device businesses and Clinical Research.
Heather is originally from Stratford, Ontario. She attended Georgian College in Barrie for her Register Nursing Diploma. Heather continued her studies at University of Western Ontario for her bachelor’s degree in Science: Human and Plant Biology. Heather’s Peri-operative Nursing expertise is in acute care, academia and community hospital settings as well as humanitarian experience in many Operating Rooms in parts of the world via Operation Walk medical missions to Guatemala and Ecuador. Her diverse work experience activated her interest to later study at the University of New Mexico, Taos for her RNFA Certification to practice as a Registered Nurse First Assistant in the surgical area.
